While reading this article it is very important to fully understand the details provided. To do so please carefully read the following guidelines.

If there is a parasite that like to attack warm blooded creatures, at some point it will likely bother your dog. And when it comes to lice that like to chew on a creature that just wants to live a peaceful life, dogs get afflicted with these parasites in miserable ways sometimes. As a dog owner, its good to keep an eye on man’s best friend to make sure that you do all you can to help the family dog stay pest free and lice free as well. <a onClick=”javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview(’/outgoing/article_exit_link’);” href=” http://www.leasureviews.info/lice/Chewing-Lice.php”>Click Here</a>

In this quest for a pest free dog, your veterinarian is essential every step of the way. We are in an era where you can put your dog on a medicine that will help him let out preventive chemicals every week to keep lice and fleas from biting. This is a huge help that can cut down on how often biting lice get on your dog and make him miserable. But there are cases where these preventive measures are not sufficient to stop nature from taking its course.

If you notice your dog scratch and developing sore spots, a little close inspection might show that biting and chewing lice are driving him crazy. This is an unhealthy situation and activity should be taken as speedily as possible. Your veteran can make sure you have the right skin treatment which is Pyrethrin shampoo that can clean the lice off of his skin and begin the healing process. While your dog may not be that interested in having a bath and having you mess with those sore places on his body where he lice have done their damage, it is crucial to clean it to stop the progress of the damage.

It’s a good idea to keep some Pyrethrin shampoo around because it often happens that you need to stage an intervention with your dog on a moments notice. Then when you have the lice subdued, you can take your pet to the veterinarian to get more medical care for the damage to his skin. The vet may need to give him some antibiotics or a steroid shot to help reduce the itching and to speed healing of the skin. <a onClick=”javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview(’/outgoing/article_exit_link’);” href=” http://www.leasureviews.info/lice/Chewing-Lice.php”>Click Here</a>

The itching of healing can be a problem for a dog who doesn’t know not to scratch that area to allow it to heal. Often the vet with prescribe a tablet that reduces itching so the dog will not be so mindful of it. If not, often benadryl does wonders for a dog and it helps him relax and sleep which is all healthy for a dog who is trying to regain from lice bites. But you will need to keep up the Pyrethrin shampoo treatments for a couple weeks to kill off any fresh fleas that appear on the dog as a result of eggs dream up out. But by being protective and persistent, you and your pooch can beat this problem.

That concludes this article, you should search our other articles for further information

One of the greatest healing gifts from the New Zealand plant world is, without question, the Manuka tree.

Manuka (botanically known as Leptospermum scoparium and sometimes known as ‘New Zealand Tea Tree’) is a highly medicinal plant with healing properties that were originally discovered and harnessed by the country’s indigenous Maori people, and later became of great importance to the country’s early European settlers.

Due to its concentrated potency, Manuka essential oil, which is extracted from Manuka leaves, is a wonderful alternative to the essential oil of Australian Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia). Some reports have even suggested that Manuka essential oil is 20 times more powerful than its Australian counterpart.

Whether it is 20 times more powerful or not, Manuka essential oil is wonderful for fungal skin infections (eg. athlete’s foot, ringworm and nail fungus) and has excellent antibacterial properties which make it useful for acne spot treatment or a wonderful natural first aid remedy to cuts and scrapes.

To help treat sinus problems, respiratory illnesses and allergies, the Maori people used to (and intact tribal communities quite possibly still do) boil fresh Manuka leaves in water then inhale the vapors. It was also typically used as a poultice – that is, freshly crushed Manuka leaves were wrapped around wounds or diseased skin to enhance healing and prevent infection. In addition, Manuka shoots were consumed to treat dysentary, and a warm, pain-relieving infusion made from the leaves and bark was massaged into rheumatic joints and aching muscles.

Whether these traditional remedies were highly effective is difficult to confirm, however modern science has positively validated the potent healing properties of Manuka, in particular the constituents of its essential oil.

In fact, scientific analysis of organic (or wild harvested) Manuka essential oil has shown up to 30% concentration of potent anti-microbial constituents, testing active against a broad range of micro-organisms that cause infections of the skin. Manuka essential oil has also tested 15 times stronger than Australian Tea Tree oil against Staphylococcus and Streptococcus bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant strains.

For at home applications, some common uses for Manuka Essential Oil are:

Fungal infections (ringworm, athlete’s foot) - 3-4 drops of undiluted Manuka essential oil to affected area twice daily, using cotton tip. Continue applying 1 week after symptoms clear.

Dandruff/itchy scalp - Mix in 5-8 drops of Manuka essential oil into normal amount of shampoo for 1 application. Apply to scalp and leave on 5 minutes before thoroughly rinsing.

Acne Spot Treatment - 2-3 drops of undiluted Manuka essential oil on a cotton tip. Apply to acne blemish twice daily.

Cuts/Abrasions - 4-5 drops of undiluted Manuka oil to affected area, using cotton tip. Reduces healing time and helps prevent infection.

Insect Bites/Stings - 3-4 drops undiluted Manuka oil on cotton tip. Apply to affected area to relieve itch and help reduce inflammation.

As with all essential oils, there are always some contraindications for Manuka. If in doubt, always consult with a certified aromatherapy professional. Manuka essential oil should be avoided in pregnancy and lacation due to its spasmolytic (muscle-relaxant) activity.

Herbs have been used for a wide variety of health care remedies since the beginning of time. Using elements that occur naturally can effectively treat acne and other skin conditions. Herbal skin care is affordable, accessible and less like to cause skin irritation and sensitivity than traditional medications. When certain herbs are applied to your skin topically, they can be a healthy alternative solution to prescription medications.

Eucalyptus: This essential oil comes from the eucalyptus tree, which is one of the tallest known trees in the world and can be found in Australia, Africa, North America, India and Southern Europe. Eucalyptus is the most powerful antiseptic in its class and has outstanding astringent qualities, which aid in the treatment of acne-prone skin.

Papaya Enzyme: The papaya is a tropical fruit that has a nutrient-rich enzyme called papin. This enzyme is used to dissolve unwanted proteins and other dead materials on the surface of your skin. The papaya enzyme works to open pores, exfoliate, promote the turnover of skin cells, soften and smooth skin and improve your overall skin tone.

Sage: This silvery-green plant has fragrant leaves and is found growing in the Mediterranean and North America. Sage oil contains chemical substances and other constituents, such as as camphor, cineole, rosmarinic acid, tannins and others. The substances found in sage oil have antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral effects, which make it an outstanding medicinal skin treatment.

Tea Tree Oil: Tea tree oil is obtained from the leaves of the native Australian Melaleuca alternifolia tree. This oil has natural antibacterial qualities, contains antiseptic compounds and is proven to be a very good skin disinfectant. When used to treat acne, it is just as effective as 5% benzoyl peroxide and less drying. However, the results of treatment with tea tree oil take just a little bit longer to see than with benzoyl peroxide.

Thyme: Thyme is the general name for herbs of the Thymus species, which are native to the western Mediterranean region. The essential thyme oil is located in the small glands on the leaves and contains thymol, linalol and paracymene. Thyme is effective in treating acne-prone skin because of its multiple actions, including antibacterial, antioxidant, antiseptic and astringent.

Witch Hazel: Witch hazel is the common name for a genus of shrubs known as Hamamelis and is rich in natural astringents such as volatile oils and tannins. Witch hazel has antiseptic capabilities that tone the skin and blood vessels, as well as draw out clogged pores.

Exploring holistic remedies can give you clearer, more healthy skin. Incorporating herbal skin care products with natural ingredients into your daily skin care regimen will improve your skin’s overall appearance over time.

Jasmine is preferred for its powerful characteristics that assist the body as an anti depressant, an aphrodisiac and confidence boosting qualities. The Chinese drink jasmine tea daily and use it to cleanse the air in sick rooms while Egyptians use it to relieve nervous disorders, insomnia and headaches.

Jasmine known to have aphrodisiac powers was used in different cultures in various ceremonies. The sensuously rich and exotic aroma of jasmine based massage oil can certainly be relied upon to evoke a romantic mood.

Jasmine oil despite being expensive is worthy for the skin. It encourages cell growth; increases skin elasticity and aids in healing minor to moderate burns. It is especially effective for people suffering from symptoms of apathy and fatigue as it helps in reducing fears. It also helps with muscle spasm and sprains.

Jasmine with its many healing properties acts as an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory agent and a sedative. It is considered as base oil for blending with other essential oil. When blended with herbs like Clary sage, geranium, lemon balm, rose, rosewood and sandalwood, it promotes the body’s natural way of healing, making it indispensable in the world of aromatherapy.

Jasmine essential oil when massaged on the abdomen during the later stages of labour strengthens uterine contractions and relieves pain.

For stimulating bath oil, try this oil – 1/2 cup soy oil, 5 drops of jasmine essential oil, 3 drops of juniper essential oil and content from 4 – 5 vitamin E capsules.

Indulge your self with a massage, blend the following ingredients well – 8 tsp grape seed oil, 6 drops of jasmine essential oil, 2 drops each of tea tree oil and neroli oil. Before application warm the oil.

To create soothing and refreshing hair oil for scalp, blend 2 drops rosemary, 2 drops lavender, 2 drops clary sage, and 2 drops jasmine absolute to 1/2 ounce base oil.

Rose, sandalwood and tea tree oil are popularly used essential oils with natural healing properties. They are used in treating number of common ailments.

1. Rose

This is one of the most expensive essential oils and is most used for its beautiful fragrance. It is an excellent anti-depressant and very claming on the nervous system.

Rose essential oil is helpful for:

1. Depression: Inhale, or use in carrier oil to massage the chest, neck and face.

2. Dehydrated, mature skin: Blend with sweet almond oil and massage the face and neck, or add a few drops to your night cream. Use rosewater as a skin freshener.

3. Insomnia: Put a few drops on your pillow, or dab a little under your nose before retiring.

4. Irregular periods: Mix in carrier oil and massage the abdomen and lower back daily.

2. Sandalwood

This oil is distilled from the sandalwood tree and has lovely fragrance. Sandalwood is a parasitic tree: it buries its roots in the roots of other trees. Sandalwood is often an ingredient of incense.

Sandalwood essential oil is helpful for:

1. Dry cough: Inhale, mix in carrier oil and massage into the chest and throat.

2. Itchy, dry skin: Add to your bath or use mixed in carrier oil. (Avocado or wheat germ oils are very nourishing)

3. Nausea, vomiting: Mix in carrier oil and gently massage the stomach or inhale.

4. Stress, tension: Inhale, use in the bath or in a burner. Can aid sleep.

3. Tea tree

The tea tree is native to Australia and the oil is distilled from the leaves. This oil is an excellent antiseptic, 12 to 15 times more potent than carbolic. When applied neat to a cut, its antiseptic potency doubles! Keep this one in your first aid box.

Tea tree essential oil is helpful for:

1. Athlete’s foot: Add six drops to a large bowl of warm water and soak feet for 15 minutes. Repeat daily.

2. Boils, spots: Apply neat to the boil or spot using a cotton bud.

3. Cuts: Bath with neat oil.

4. Sore throat: Dilute five drops in a glass of water and gargle three times a day.

5. Thrush: Add six drops to your bath. Also, blend in carrier oil and massage the abdomen regularly.

Essential oils are aromatic oils extracted from plants and have many therapeutic benefits. Essential oils are used to soothe the skin, heal cuts, eliminate pimples, help you relax, relieve digestive problems and even cure colds and flus.

For therapeutic purposes, only the most pure oils will do. Unfortunately there are many companies out there selling low quality oils and you should only buy from a source that you trust. Like with anything else, you get what you get what you pay for so if an oil seems to be priced quite cheaply, it’s probably not a good quality oil for medicinal purposes.

When using essential oils, it’s important to remember that these oils are strong and should not be applied directly to the skin. Mix them with base oils like almond or wheatgerm oil to reduce their potency.

Essential Oils And Their Uses

Lavender

Perhaps the most popular of the essential oils, lavender has many uses. It is a great topical treatment which can help heal cuts, bruises and burns and is also a wonder aid to help you relax and can be a natural sleep inducer.

Peppermint

Peppermint oil is great for treating digestive complaints and may be used in preparations for freshening breath.

Tea Tree and Eucalyptus

These oils have long been used to treat a variety of respiratory ailments. These oils can be massaged into the chest or used in an oil burner and help relive congestion making them excellent oils to use for colds. Tea tree oil is also a natural antiseptic and can be dabbed on cuts, bites and stings. It can be used to treat spots and pimples and can be used to gargle but should never be swallowed.

Geranium

Geranium oil has been used for years as a pain reliever.

Rosemary and Thyme

Not only do these herbs taste good but they have wonderful antiseptic properties and can be good for healing problems with the skin.

Citronella

Citronella oil is a natural insect repellent so it’s no wonder they use it in the manufacture of oils and sprays as well as candles to repel insects. To protect your pet against fleas, try soaking his collar in citronella oil. To help keep down insects in summer, buy some citronella Geraniums and put the around your porch or deck.

Garlic

Garlic is another natural insect repellent and is vital in helping to keep your immune system healthy. It can be a great way to help prevent colds and viruses naturally. It also has antibacterial and antifungal properties. And it tastes good too!

Patchouli

This fragrant oil smells great when used in an oil burner but it is also a great topical treatment for eczema and dandruff.

Ylang-ylang

This is another fragrant oil that can be burned for it’s aroma, and is also reputed to relieve stress, palpitations and high blood pressure.

Orange Oil

Use this oil as an aroma therapy, it is reputed to help with depression and nervous tension.

Cinnamon

This tasty herb is becoming popular for many treatments but it’s great when used as an aroma therapy. Mix it with orange oil and you’ll have a wonderful homey smell in your house. As a topical oil, it is excellent for warts and viral infections.

If you are really ambitious, you can grow these herbs yourself and collect the oil by stewing large amounts in pure water. Collect the steam and let it cool. The essential oils will rise to the top of the drained water and can be collected with an eyedropper. Or if you want a less labor intensive method, you can buy a product called a “flower still” which will help make the job easier.
